Field of expertise: Strength of Materials Short CV: Dr. Stefanos Zaoutsos is a Professor at the Dept. of Energy Systems of the University of Thessaly. His area of interest is Strength of Materials. He graduated from the Dept. of Mechanical and Aeronautics (University of Patras, 1987-1992), and completed his doctorate in 2000 in the area of Time-dependent Mechanical Response of Composite Materials and Structures. He also holds an MSc degree in the area of Mechanics and Simulation of Systems by the Dept. of Civil Engineering of the University of Thessaly. During 1993-1994 he was Research Fellow at Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Brussels. He did his military service in the 117th Combat Wing and int Center of Reaserch and Technology of the Hellenic Airforce during 1995-1997. He worked as a freelance Mechanical Engineer during 1997-2002. During 2002-2006 he was an executive of OEK at the Megnesia Prefecture; his responsibility was to supervise constructions and compile studies. In 2006 he was elected Associate Professor at Dept. of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical Educational Institute of Thessaly and during 2012-2019 he was a Professor topic of interest "Strength of Materials". His expertise and reserach interests are focused in the mechanics of advanced materials (composites, biomaterials, nanomaterials) and the time-dependent response in varying conditions (mechanical / environmental). He has published over 30 papers in scientific journals and 60 presentations in international conferences. He is author of three book chapters and reviewer for many scientific journals. He has been invited to lecture in numerous universities and institutes He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), of the European Society of Composite Materials (ESCM), of the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB), of the Hellenic Society for Thermal Analysis (HSTA), and an elected member of Hellenic Society for Biometerials Council (ΗSB) (2013-2016). |
